In India

Northern India is a region that offers a wealth of experiences for travellers who want to explore the diverse and fascinating aspects of this ancient and vibrant land. From the majestic monuments of Delhi and Agra, to the colourful cities of Rajasthan, to the mystical Himalayas, Northern India has something for everyone.

Delhi

Delhi: The Capital of Contrasts

Delhi is the capital and the gateway of India, where the past and the present coexist in a chaotic and captivating way. Delhi is divided into two parts: Old Delhi, the historic and crowded area that houses the Red Fort, the Jama Masjid, and the Chandni Chowk market; and New Delhi, the modern and planned area that houses the India Gate, the Rashtrapati Bhavan, and the Lotus Temple. Delhi is a city that offers a glimpse of the rich and diverse history, culture, and cuisine of India. You can visit the Qutub Minar, the tallest brick minaret in the world, the Humayun’s Tomb, the precursor of the Taj Mahal, and the Akshardham Temple, the largest Hindu temple complex in the world. You can also sample delicious street food, such as chaat, paratha, and kebab, or enjoy a fine dining experience at one of the many restaurants and cafes.

Agra

Agra: The City of Love

Agra is the city that hosts the most iconic and romantic monument in India, the Taj Mahal. This white marble mausoleum, built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, is a masterpiece of architecture and art, and a symbol of eternal love. The Taj Mahal is best seen at sunrise or sunset when the light changes its colour and creates a magical atmosphere. Agra also has other attractions, such as the Agra Fort, the former residence and prison of Shah Jahan, the Itmad-ud-Daulah, a tomb that resembles a jewel box, and the Fatehpur Sikri, a deserted city that was once the capital of the Mughal empire.

Rajastan

Rajasthan: The Land of Kings

Rajasthan is the largest and most colourful state in India, known for its royal and cultural heritage, it’s desert and wildlife, and its festivals and fairs. Rajasthan is home to some of the most beautiful and impressive cities in India, such as Jaipur, the Pink City, where you can see the Hawa Mahal, the Palace of Winds, the City Palace, and the Amber Fort; Jodhpur, the Blue City, where you can see the Mehrangarh Fort, the Umaid Bhawan Palace, and the Jaswant Thada; Udaipur, the City of Lakes, where you can see the Lake Palace, the City Palace, and the Jagdish Temple; and Jaisalmer, the Golden City, where you can see the Jaisalmer Fort, the Patwon Ki Haveli, and the Sam Sand Dunes. Rajasthan is also a place where you can experience the rural and tribal life of India, by staying in a heritage hotel, a haveli, or a tented camp, and by taking a camel safari, a jeep safari, or a village walk.
