This week at ITB, one of Europe’s biggest travel trade shows (similar to World Travel Market which happens in London every November), Qatar Airways announced it’s to expand it’s services as travel flows start to return to pre-pandemic levels.
As part of a set of seven new routes from its Doha hub (all serviceable from either Heathrow or Gatwick, and soon to be Birmingham), Qatar Airways is to fly to Chittagong, Juba, Kinshasa, Lyon, Medan in Indonesia and Trabzon in Turkey.
More useful for us travelling to Asia, they are also reopening many routes which closed during the pandemic. The big metropolitan cities of Beijing and Tokyo are returning, along with Osaka, Davao and Phnom Penh. As an alternative to flying to Dubai and getting a transfer, they are also flying from Doha to Ras Al Khaimah, one of our favourite beach options in the Middle East.
