When you think of The Netherlands, there are plenty of different images you might come up with. For some it might be the gardens and tulips in spring, maybe the bicycles, or canals (or something else we won’t talk about!). There is even a really lovely theatre in the centre of Amsterdam which has broadway shows (in English) throughout the year.
Amsterdam is everything and more you could ever hope for in a city. Strolling through the cobbled streets alongside the canals is simply magical when the weather is good, and when it isn’t there are so many museums and galleries you can explore. With such a short flight, its really easy to get to, 30 minutes if you’re lucky.
It’s not just Amsterdam though that’s worth a visit, and with such a good railway network it’s easy to get between towns and cities. One of our favourites is Delft, famous for its pottery which is almost a mini-Amsterdam. Rotterdam is a major port, but the way in which it has been developed is really interesting – and its worth visiting the train station, a real work of modern art.

HOW TO GET THERE
There are flights from all over the UK to Amsterdam (and from London City to Rotterdam), often multiple options per day. You can also get the Eurostar from St Pancras, or the ferry and take your own car.

Dutch, although English is widely spoken.
IDEAL TO COMBINE WITH
Combine stays with a city and then the beach – Barcelona and the Balearics, Seville and the Andalusian coast, or the historic centre of Spain.
